I called Papa last night to wish him a happy belated Easter. I ended up catching them while they were on their way home from Chuckie Cheese's. There were a couple of times times in the conversation that I almost burst out into tears (good ones mind you). The first time was when Nicky piped up and said, "You called on the perfect night. Tonight is family night, and now it's complete because you called." Jessie is in theater club in her school, and is also doing another play for something else. I wasn't familiar with the plays, but she's really excited about them. I wish I could go see them. When the conversation was winding down, Drake wanted to talk to me again. He hadn't really said much to me the first time on the phone, because he doesn't really know me. They show him pictures all the time, but because he's only 4, it doesn't quite sink in. I haven't seen him since he was 3 months old. But anyways, he gets back on the phone, says "hi," and then, to Papa and Nicky, asks, "Can I say I love you?" Papa, Nicky, and Jessie all say "Yes" at the same time, and he says "I love you Tansy." That just made me so happy. I miss them all very much.

I'm looking forward to seeing Papa the first weekend in May. He's going to be flying out to go to the race up in Richmond, but he's flying into the Raleigh/Durham airport so he can see me. I can't wait for it.

I'm so glad you got a chance to catch the other half of your family. I am so excited that you get to see James in just a few weeks. I love you girly.

Oh, Tansy, that is so great! My "Child and the Family" class makes me think of you every time we have a conversation about complicated family situations. I applaud you because not only do you seem pretty down-to-earth and matter-of-fact about it all, you are well adjusted and (dare I say it) normal (I know, cringe!) in spite of the whole situation. Others in your situation have lashed out, become angry, or withdrawn. Instead, you embrace it all! I think it is really cool, because you have a whole lot of people who love you and care about you and want the absolute best for you. I'm so proud of you, Tansy. I really am. And I'm glad that I'm even a small part of your awesome life. I wish I could get to know your other half siblings better as well.

Love,
Aunt Pam

I guess I'll just have to have family reunions of my own.
